Operations on the Scotts-dale Division focus on the coal industry
and moving coal from the mines to the NS Yards at Bluefield and
Williamson. Empty hoppers are retrieved from Bluefield and marshaled
in the Scotts-dale Yard. Mine Turns move the empties up to the coal
mines and return to Scotts-dale with loads. The loads are classified
and blocked for movement mostly Eastward to Bluefield and on to the
Lambert's Point coal piers or other Customers. Some coal heads
westward to power plants and steel mills. Also, dedicated
units which serve the coal flood loader are operated between their
mine and associated consumer.
