Over the years, I have had many ideas for layouts, some which got built and many that did not.

My Layouts

Carolina Central Layout (2000 - 2003) - B - This was the layout that I started building in our previous home. While some scenery was completed on this layout, it was torn down long before completion. The primary reasons were poor track laying and poor understanding of operations. Another issue with the layout was that it was built based on DC operations. Once I learned about DCC, I wanted a layout that could fully implement DCC.

DCC Test Track (2003 - 2004) - B - This was a modified Timesaver layout that was great for testing DCC. It included computer controlled turnouts, and block detection. Also, the layout was my first attempt at using Atlas Code 55 track. Very simple, but effective. Unfortunately, it was dismantled without pictures taken.

Testing Layout - (2004-2006) - B - Upon moving into our 2nd home, I built four (4) modules and linked them together as a test layout.  It was a track laying test; I didn't want to repeat the mistakes of the earlier layout. And it was a continuation of DCC testing, including the signaling system. By Jan. 2006, the layout had served it purpose, it was time to move on to the new layout.

Scotts-dale Division - Transfer Table Design - (2006) - This was the first design for a complete Scotts-dale Division. The design was very linear and did not capture the feel of track work in West Virginia; however it was the first time I managed to get all of the functionality I wanted into the space available. The key was the transfer table. This design was never built, because saw the Ro-Ro Elevator at the 2006 National Train Show in Philly.

Scotts-dale Division - Ro-Ro Elevator design - (2006-2007) - B - This was the second design iteration of the Scotts-dale Division. I am very happy with the way the design evolved, given the space constraints that I had. So I start construction, finished the benchwork, and began laying track...Then we moved.

In addition, over the past couple of years I have created several Dream Layout Designs.
